Who is driving Hillsborough's school buses?

Tampa, Florida -- Who's driving your child in that big yellow school bus?

That's what many people want to know after a school bus driver ran off the road and into a pond.

It's the image of a school bus on its side in a pond that mother Erika Linares will never get out of her head.

“I’m still in shock. I can’t even believe it happened,” says Linares.

Her child Nicholas was on that bus.

“It shouldn't have happened. They're babies, just kids,” says Linares.

But the  images and video of her child's bus driver Lenoir Sainfimin during his training just 3 weeks ago may be even harder to comprehend.

“I don't know how he even passed the test. How do we know that won’t happen again?” says Linares.
We took his training history, that 10 investigates was the first to get, to the general manager of transportation for Hillsborough County Schools.

“That was day 1 of day 8 of training, so we are hard on are trainees to correct every single thing they do,” says Jim Beekman, GM of Transportation.

But according to the records, on day 4 this training video shows he was going backward after stopping at the railroad tracks.
“Every incident that happens we have to go back and look at what we could've done differently,” says Beekman.

Linares says she just hopes in the future the district does more to train and make sure these drivers are ready to get behind the wheel.

“At least it wasn't a tragedy but it could've been and who’s going to be responsible for that,” says Linares.

10 News tried to contact school board members for a response, but but have yet to hear back from them.
